Shangri-La

Shangri-La
is intended to invoke a dialogue about what it means to use the capacity of the real to create artifice with the intention of using that artifice to denote lived experience; it embodies a string of psychological tension that tugs tightly between the traumatic perceived moment of reality and the traumatic fabrication of memory as surrogate. It serves as the incarnation of the distance between. Shangri-La is a series of screen captures from Google Maps Street View that represent the driving route from my parents’ home to the apartment that my previous partner, abuser, and rapist lived in during our time together.
